New for 2010, Polaris is introducing the company’s first electric vehicle, the RANGER EV. The RANGER EV encompasses a smaller, two-seat chassis, that fits in the back of a pickup truck, with many of the hardest working, smoothest riding features of their full-sized counterparts: On-Demand True All-Wheel Drive with VersaTrac, Independent Rear Suspension, heavy duty front end protection, high ground clearance and the longest suspension travel in their class.
Sharing the same chassis as the Midsize RANGER 400, the all-new RANGER EV electric Side-by-Side is a first for Polaris. The unit features the largest battery pack in the industry (11.5 kilowatts) and has the longest range of any electric Midsize UTV. Built for clean and quiet operation, and full of hardest working, smoothest riding features, the RANGER EV is perfect for hunters and homeowners with acreage. With its 30 horsepower electric motor, 35-45 mile range, 25 mph top speed and two hours of riding time between charges, the RANGER EV will transport hunters and their gear to and from their hunting site with fewer disturbances to game. The unit also features three modes: High for speed, Low for towing and hauling, and Max for maximum range. For harsh terrain, such as muddy fields on the way to fix the fence or trails full of rocks and stumps leading to the tree stand, the RANGER EV features On-Demand True All-Wheel Drive. For more sensitive terrains and a better turning radius, RANGER EV has VersaTrac with one-wheel, rear-wheel drive to prevent damage and also better navigate tight areas often encountered in the woods. The RANGER EV has a 500 lb. Lock & Ride cargo box with 1,250 lb. towing and 1,000 lb. total payload making hauling hunting gear or game a breeze; and the model’s exclusive 48-volt, AC Induction motor provides high performance with
low maintenance and can be charged using a standard 110 vac outlet. For quick charges between rides, PURE Polaris is offering a quick charge kit for RANGER 400 to get you back on the trails.
Clean and Quiet Operation
The first Polaris electric vehicle offers a 30 horsepower electric motor with two-hours of riding time and a 35-45 mile range. The vehicle includes a range leader with three modes, High, Low or Max, for different riding situations, 650 amp controller, AC induction motor for low maintenance/high performance and charges using a standard 110 outlet. I have owned my EV for about a year. This is the best side by side ever. Quiet, dependable and never any issues. Deer hint in 2 weeks, can't wait!

the fist 3 months both buggies were ok, replaced both the park brake @ 100 hrs then again at 200 hrs and its done again at 280 hrs???? the quick chargers lasted 100 hrs when the output connector pins burnt out on both of our machines less that 100 hrs, same life with the park brakes, Polaris says that no others have a problem??? also the tyres are 4ply and we had to replace 4 with large bulges in the sidewalls in under 100 hrs. generally not very happy with polaris and their service, still no settlement with the refund on the quickchargers.

When hauling the bike haome from the dealer the seat blew off and one of the storage pans also came loose. I did recover the items. Bunge cord the seat in place when hauling.

I have owned an EV for a year now. It is a good machine, with plenty of power for up/down hills, off road. It handles well. The 2 issues I have, the parking break will not hold even on a small hill. Had it replaced, still the same issue. It does not have enough throw to hold. The other issue is the battery gauge really has little value in helping you figure out the range you have left. I return to my RV for lunch with the gauge showing 40%, let it charge for 1.5 hours (quick charge kit)... Still shows 40%, then I run it for an hour, still 40%.....
I would buy it again - Just would not stand behind it on a hill when parked... Wheel chalks are required.

Polaris says they will not warranty my machine. Had same trouble of not starting or charging. Finally got tired of waiting. While attempting to charge I moved wiring harness and it started charging and would turn on. Found plug on charger did the trick. Could move this plug and unit would turn off then back on. Did not unplug to check but advised dealership. Scheduled to take it in Tuesday 3/29/11.

Will not charge and sometimes will not turn on. Shop says Polaris said they have a charger problem and shop is checking into this. I can NOT get any information from Polaris and the dealer tech does not know that much about the EV. All he does is call Polaris. Not much help.

As I stated in msg 11/16/10 the noise I had was in the front drive case, they replaced twice before fixing. My batteries hold up several hours. Have 150 hours on it. BUT now it will not "start" sometimes. All I get is the battery status light. The light on the converter blinks 6 times when this happens. When it works I do not turn it off until I get back home. I works on and off. Today it went dead when I plugged it in to charge. Have talked to shop but have to wait until it works to load it. You are correct, Polaris will not talk to you. Anybody else, DO NOT BUY AN EV YET!!!

Bought this machine less that 6 months ago for hunting. NOWAY very loud. The charge good for 50 miles? Went less than 6 mile today and had to push the last 100YD.Yes I have reset this machine several times. What a waist of money! Would never buy again. My dealer has bent over backwards, but Polaris will not talk to me. Does anyone else have a high noise coming from transfer case? I challenge anyone from Polaris to call me. 419-658-2186. Have several quads and never so unhappy! FOR SALE IF YOU WANT IT!

Very satisfied with performance. Plenty of power. Have had several problems with noise. First was the front drive. had it replaced twice. Now have noise from emergency brake. New parts ordered. For now this is not for hunting. Started having problem with charging. Had to restart/reset couple times to get working correctly.

how far is 2 hours? I could easily ride 2 hours on the 12,000 acre deer lease. Not sure the batter life will be adequate???

I had previously used two different rhinos. My wife and I as well as our dogs prefer the EV. It has one problem I do not like. The transition between acceleration and an even speed is very jerky. As you approach a hill and start down the other side there's a lot of jerking. I hope Polaris finds a way to program this better. I know that this type of behavior is programmable in golf carts.

Very awesome machine. Side by sides do not get any smoother riding than this. Polaris has got it figured out when it comes to the statement "rides like a Cadillac". More power than one can ask for even when it's completely loaded down with three individuals and a bed full of gear. The only problem I have had so far is the seat sliding forward. Has anyone else experianced this? Plastic is the only thing holding this seat in place. During your down hill decent, with three people seated, you can bet those plastic stabs will bend like bubble gum. Hopefully Polaris can do something about this undesirable feature. 07' models use metal stabs to hold the seat in place. Why Polaris changed there design I may never know.

What an awesome machine !!! Owned it for 1 month and went out for twelve rides already. Used once to carry 600 lbs of woods in the cargo box without any problems. Longest ride I did was 2 hours and I've used 55% of my charge. Let me tell you that two hours continuous off-roading is kind of tough and I could have ran up to four hours !!! Clean, quiet and FUN !
